Foundations of Vision explores Bozeman’s architectural past and future, inviting the community to consider how buildings shape civic identity and shared values. The exhibition begins with a look at the city’s architectural history, highlighting the influential early 20th-century architect Fred Willson through archival photographs and drawings that place his work within broader regional and national movements.
At its center are design proposals created by university architecture students in response to the museum’s vision for a permanent home. These imaginative projects propose different possibilities for how a museum can serve as both a cultural landmark and a welcoming civic space, grounded in local history and landscape.
The exhibition also features personal “after hours” artwork by local architects, revealing the creative thinking and skill beyond their professional work.
