Jeff lives in Minneapolis, MN with his wife, Amy Rottunda, and their two cats Penny and Sully. Living along the shore of the Mississippi River, among the historical ruins and amidst contemporary architectural icons, you will find Jeff on the sidewalks, in a park or a field capturing everyday activity. En plein air painting is his specialty and rest assured, all family vacations include the easel, paper, paints and brushes to be securely stowed in the overhead compartment.
Jeff Steiner graduated from the College of Design at the University of Minnesota with a BS in Architecture. A semester abroad at Tian Jin University in China added a cultural richness to his early career. Jeff spent the majority of his 35 year career as lead architectural designer for the late MCL Architects and ending with 14 years at JLG Architects, winning many awards for higher education, religious and public buildings.
Jeff’s watercolor process begins with quick pencil sketching and evolves into capturing the mood of street and landscape scenes though expressions of natural light using bold and varied brush strokes.
