Becky Smith-Dobbins, a Montana native born in Bozeman, was raised on the historic N-Bar Ranch in central Montana. Surrounded by an artistic family and the vast beauty of rural Montana, she began creating art an an early age.
A Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from Montana State University led to a colorful career spanning Montana, Florida, Texas, and Arizona. Her design work included clients such as the Orlando Magic, Orlando Solar Bears, Jack Nicklaus, Georgetown University, the natural foods industry, and healthcare, among others.
While raising her children remained a priority for many years, a transformative plein air painting experience in Glacier National Park ignited a divergent artistic focus. The experience came with cold rain and relentless wind, yet she found inspiration in Glacier’s breathtaking landscapes, sparking a passion for painting on location.
Today, Becky regularly paints en plein air from Montana to Arizona, produces studio works, and creates photography & design under Flatwillow Creek Studios, a tribute to her childhood home. She and her husband, David, split their time between Montana’s Big Sky summers and Arizona’s warm winters. Glacier National Park continues to be a cherished summer destination.
